Pour continuer sur la lancée des réseaux virtuels, intéressons-nous aujourd’hui à Facebook. Pour ceux qui seraient passé à côté du phénomène, ce « livre des visages » débuté en 2004 dans la seule Université de Harvard, avait pour objectif initial de permettre aux étudiants du campus d’entrer en relation avec des personnes ayant les mêmes centres d’intérêts. Compte tenu de son succès, le site s’est progressivement étendu aux autres universités américaines, puis aux écoles du secondaires pour finalement s’ouvrir à tous, à travers le monde, à partir de 2006.

Régulièrement contreversé pour les aspects liés aux informations privées (voir l’épisode Sir John Sawers, ou plus récemment celui concernant une Québécoise en congé maldie qui s’est vue suspendre ses droits), Facebook n’en demeure pas moins la plate-forme de réseautage sociale la plus répandue au monde, avec plus de 300 millions d’utilisateurs.

En premier lieu destiné à un usage privé, Facebook tend à être de plus en plus reconnu dans la sphère professionnelle : on peut y recruter, trouver des clients, échanger, communiquer, effectuer de la veille… Ainsi, en plus des « comptes personnels », on peut trouver une typologie  pages Facebook dont l’usage est destiné à ce deuxième usage et « réservé » aux associations, entreprises, établissements et évènements qui désirent s’adresser à leurs clients ou usagers. On peut devenir fan de ces pages et ainsi suivre l’actualité de leur auteur.

Enfin, il existe également des groupes qui rassemblent toutes les personnes désirant afficher tel ou tel centre d’intérêt. L’esprit est davantage collaboratif. On peut en devenir membre. Vous trouverez donc ci-dessous la liste des pages et groupes rassemblant des archivistes sur Facebook… Le classement est alphabétique, confond les pages et les groupes (vous pourrez les différencier par la typologie membres ou fans). Attention : l’intérêt des groupes est très variable et si certains sont engagés d’autres sont pour le moins surprenants ! Libre à vous d’en devenir membre !

Bien évidemment les nombres d’inscrits dans ces groupes et sur ces pages est amené à changer : il sera ainsi possible d’observer les évolutions ! D’ailleurs, pour quelques-uns d’entre eux, vous pouvez comparer les chiffres actuels avec ceux avancés par ArchivesNext ici.

This would primarily be aimed at staff from Port Authorities, Harbour Commissions, Shipping companies and agencies, shipbuilders, maritime museums, logistics companies, historical societies or uniformed services like the Navy, Coast Guard or their auxliaries. It’s not an « official » group by any means, just one with the intent of being able to help steer researchers to sources they might not know about that concern maritime and marine history, and network among ourselves. That’s the ambition, but of course, it’s open to anyone with an interest.
